about

The lyrics from this one were largely taken from a song I had written in 2004 called "The Void In My Mind." It was never recorded (nor will it ever be), but I did find that a lot of the lyrics worked nicely with this song. Musically it is an exercise in how to use the same 3 chords, while changing the dynamics and variations around it. Nick did an amazing job syncing up with the acoustic guitar solo...-RM

lyrics

wasting my time
hit the rewind
try it again

figure it out
fiddle about
put down my pen

sitting at my desk looking at a shiny vacant screen
staring at myself
while thoughts escape before they're seen

that's how it works
that's how it works for me

break out the tools
filter the pools
to get somewhere

drawing the lines
ignoring the signs
too busy to care

waiting for the world to give me something to critique
some prefer i close my mouth when i decide to speak

you can think it's impossible
and scream into the sky
i believe it is logical
to take a chance and fly with a dream
defy what seems to be...
